New chairman of Egmont
Merete Eldrup becomes chairman of Egmont. Lars-Johan Jarnheimer resigns after 12 years on Egmont’s board of directors. At the same time Egmont elects Rebekka Glasser Herlofsen as new director of the board.
Merete Eldrup (59) is appointed chairman of the board of directors in Egmont Foundation and Egmont International Holding A/S. She joined Egmont’s board of directors in 2020. Merete Eldrup has comprehensive board experience, she holds a MSc. in Economics (cand.polit.) and has been member of the management board of JP/Politikens Hus and CEO of Danish TV 2.
“I look forward to taking on the position as chairman of Egmont. From my long-time career in the media industry, I know Egmont as a well-run, international media group rooted in the Nordics. In recent years, as vice chairman, I have followed closely the development of Egmont’s ambitious growth strategy, which spans a number of business areas. I appreciate Egmont’s dual purpose as a commercial foundation: to develop modern media and to support children and young people at risk”, says Merete Eldrup.
Lars-Johan Jarnheimer (63) has been chairman of Egmont for a number of years, during which Egmont has significantly increased its revenue through investment in content and growth in TV streaming, computer games companies, digital agencies and e-commerce, and he is now stepping down after having served three four-year terms on the board.
“I would like to thank Lars-Johan Jarnheimer for his great efforts for Egmont, which under his chairmanship has developed significantly to become the largest media group in the Nordic region”, says Merete Eldrup.
"A crucial part of Egmont's successful transformation is rooted in the strong values and culture that are embedded among all employees. Egmont’s dual purpose is something quite special. For me, the work has therefore been like opening a good book with anticipation and closing it again with great pleasure and benefit”, says Lars-Johan Jarnheimer.
Rebekka Glasser Herlofsen (52) joins Egmont’s board of directors. She holds a degree in economics from the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen and has professional experience in banking and industry, including CFO positions at Norwegian Energy Company, Torvald Klaveness Group and Wallenius Willhelmsen. Rebekka Glasser Herlofsen is member of numerous boards in the Nordic region.
“Rebekka Glasser Herlofsen has a broad business and board experience, and as a Norwegian she is rooted in one of Egmont's major media markets. We are delighted that Rebekka has agreed to join Egmont's board”, says Egmont's chairman Merete Eldrup.
Per Bank, CEO of Salling Group, has been appointed vice chairman of Egmont.
With the above changes, Egmont's board of directors consists of: chairman Merete Eldrup, vice chairman Per Bank, Martin Enderle, Christian Wegner, Josh Bottomley, Rebekka Glasser Herlofsen and the employee representatives Anna von Lowzow, Peder Høgild and Jesper Lyders Andersen.
