More fathers can look forward to parental support for the benefit of their children

Since the new parental leave rules with 11 weeks of earmarked leave for fathers came into force last year, more young children have benefited from fathers at home. Some fathers need extra support to be equipped for the task. Therefore, Egmont Grant Administration is supporting four initiatives to ensure a good start for father and child.

Playgroups, health care visits and extra support for vulnerable fathers are some of the services fathers on maternity leave can look forward to.

With the new paternity leave rules, more fathers are expected to take leave - and for longer. This also means that there is a greater need for support, especially for fathers who are particularly vulnerable or insecure in their role as fathers.

Therefore, Egmont Grant Administration is donating a total of DKK 14 million to four initiatives that support fathers on parental leave. The donation is a follow-up to the Egmont Report 2022, which focused on how parental leave for fathers benefits the child.

  • ‘Forum for Mænds Sundhed’ educates professionals to support fathers in vulnerable positions. The initiative is supported with DKK 3.6 million.

  • ‘Komiteen for Sundhedsoplysning’ wants to get more people to choose parental leave with a fathers' group program. Egmont supports the initiative with DKK 8.4 million.

  • ‘Fonden for Socialt Ansvar’ acts locally with support for fathers and children in vulnerable positions. Egmont supports with DKK 1.3 million.

  • Køge Municipality starts playgroups for fathers, and Egmont supports with DKK 933,125.
